I think the maxim of The Fisher and the Little Fish is that you should take any opportunity that you get, even if its not as important as you want it to be. For instance, if you are searching for a job in teaching, and the only opportunity you get is teaching at a day camp, you should take it. In time, this job will turn out to be more important, and you will learn to love it. As in the story, the fisher did not want to give up the small fish because he may never find another fish during this time.
